HOUSING AS A HUMAN RIGHT
OFFICIALS WITHIN OUR GOVERNMENTAL SYSTEM WILL DEMONSTRATE THEIR COMMITMENT TO FIGHTING FOR HOUSING FOR ALL BY:
Understanding housing as a human right as opposed to a commodity, and taking proactive steps to end the homelessness crisis
Promoting the building of wealth and assets for communities of color through homeownership, community-led innovation, and security
Empowering folks affected by evictions, homelessness, and foreclosures to participate in local, state, and federal decisions affecting their lives
Pursuing policies that protect tenants, prevent evictions, preserve affordable housing and construct affordable housing to meet the community’s needs
Centering the needs of the unhoused, unstably housed, and those disproportionately impacted by housing costs when making decisions around homelessness and housing policy
Decriminalizing homelessness and recognizing that people need housing first before any other struggles can be addressed
