ECONOMIC INVESTMENT

WITHOUT DISPLACEMENT

OFFICIALS WITHIN OUR LEGAL SYSTEM WILL DEMONSTRATE THEIR COMMITMENT TO FIGHTING FOR SOCIALLY JUST ECONOMIC INVESTMENT BY:

Prioritizing the needs of community members, especially populations that are susceptible to the effects of widening income inequality

Emphasizing building healthy communities in disadvantaged neighborhoods: good schools, healthy food, public transit, nearby employment opportunities, and green space

Working to ensure development projects support and uplift the communities most vulnerable to displacement (ensuring community members are the table in planning processes), so that residents struggling with cost of living increases are able to stay in their neighborhoods and enjoy the benefits of new public investments

Working to mitigate and proactively plan policies that will prevent the displacement of existing residents and businesses by development

Committing to closing the housing wealth gap (e.g. via Black homeownership)
